Sean Silveira Dons His Chef Hat for Charity at The Children’s Bureau Celebrity Cookoff
On October 9th, Sean Silveira, the #1 ranked wakesurfer in the world, had an opportunity to throw on his chef’s hat for a good cause: The Children’s Bureau Celebrity Cookoff. Silveira joined 56 other celebrities serving up their favorite dishes to over 360 attendees, and 50 volunteers, at the Sapporro restaurant in Castleton, IN. All proceeds from the event benefited Central Indiana’s only children’s shelter that strives to ensure a safe haven for kids twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
What is the Children’s Bureau?
Children’s Bureau, Inc. is a private nonprofit that has been serving families in Indiana since 1851. They offer a variety of services to Indiana children and families which Silveira feels are incredibly beneficial to the community as a whole. The Celebrity Cook-Off is the signature fundraising event for Children’s Bureau, and this year all proceeds will benefit the children’s shelter located at 16th and MLK in downtown Indianapolis. With the support of generous sponsors, donors, volunteers, and our celebs, this year’s event raised $146,800 to support the kids we serve.
“We loved having Sean at the event last Tuesday,” said Jessica Almon, a representative for The Children’s Bureau, Inc.
“It’s been a great experience all around,” said Silveira. “I love what the Children’s Bureau represents and couldn’t think of a better way to spend my evening than plating up some delicious food for a good cause.” Silveira continued, “I think we should get more of the watersports industry into events like this; it was so fun!”
